Nei luoghi del lavoro, vuole iniziare una indagine sul tema del lavoro in Sicilia. Lo strumento è il mezzo fotografico.
Certo ci sono dei precedenti illustri in Italia in particolare, soprattutto nel secondo dopoguerra. Fa piacere ricordare UN PAESE di Paul Strand e Cesare Zavattini, nel 1955, sulla transizione dal mondo contadino alla produzione indistrializzata avanzata. E successivamente nel 1978, DENTRO IL LAVORO, di Gianni Berengo Gardin e Luciano D'Alessandro, con un testo sempre di Zavattini. A 40 anni di distanza il CNA di Agrigento vuole riproporre lo stesso tipo d'analisi sullo stesso tema in uno dei territori d'Europa tra i più disastrati, col più alto tasso endemico di disoccupazione ed emigrazione.
Quello che emerge dalle immagini è certamente una pagina nuova nella realtà economica, una sapienza antica unita a nuove tecnologie, grazie all'impegno e all'entusiasmo di giovani imprenditori. (Testi di Nello Basili e Angelo Pitrone)
CANTIERE NAVALE MARTELLO
Il cantiere si tramanda da generazioni di maestri d'ascia, e viene fondato nel 1928 sulla spiaggia del Martelluccio da Federico De Marco, che inizia l'attività con la costruzione di quattro barche destinate alla pesca della spugna presso il golfo di Sirte in Libia. Intorno all'anno 1935 con l'accentuarsi del regime fascista Federico de Marco decide di interrompere l'attività e di trasferirsi oltre oceano, da dove non farà più ritorno. Successivamente alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale sarà Carlo De Marco a riaprire l'attività di costruzione navale. La prematura scomparsa di carlo costringe il figlio Daniele a rientrare a Licata ed assumere la direzione del cantiere Martello. Fin da giovanissimo Daniele ha lavorato in produzione con il padre Carlo, imparando e perfezionando l'arte della costruzione in legno e diventando a soli 18 anni Maestro d'Ascia qualificato. La sete di conoscenza però e la voglia di apprendere nuove tecniche di lavorazione, aveva portato Daniele appena ventenne ad allontanarsi dal cantiere di famiglia ed iniziare un percorso prima come operaio e poi come appaltista presso numerosi cantieri navali, che si occupano della costruzione di yacht e megayacht.

MARTELLO SHIPYARD HAMMER
The shipyard has been handed down by generations of shipwrights, and was founded in 1928 on the beach of Martelluccio by Federico De Marco, who began his activity with the construction of four boats for sponge fishing in the Gulf of Sirte in Libya. Around the year 1935, with the accentuation of the fascist regime, Federico de Marco decides to interrupt the activity and move overseas, from where he will never return. After the end of the Second World War, Carlo De Marco will reopen the shipbuilding business. Carlo's untimely death forces his son Daniele to return to Licata and take over the direction of the Martello shipyard. From a very young age Daniele worked in production with his father Carlo, learning and perfecting the art of wooden construction and becoming a qualified Ax Master at the age of 18. The thirst for knowledge, however, and the desire to learn new processing techniques, had led Daniele when he was just twenty years old to move away from the family yard and start a path first as a worker and then as a contractor at numerous shipyards, which deal with the construction of yachts and megayachts.
